Religious Emblems Program

To encourage members to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed the following religious emblems programs. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform. The various religious groups administer the programs. Check with the Council Service Center or contact the religious organization directly to obtain the curriculum booklets.

Once earned, the award is generally presented by the church or religious group but may also be recognized by the Scout unit at an event such as a Court of Honor or Troop meeting or Pack meeting. This award may be earned as a youth or as an adult or both. Once earned as a youth, the knot may be displayed on the uniform from that time forward. If a Scout earns the youth award and later earns the adult award as well, the youth knot is replace by the adult knot and the small pins may be worn on the knot to signify the fact that the knot was earned as a Cub Scout or Boy Scout prior to earning it as an adult. The Youth Award Knot and Adult Knot are not worn together.
